Alta Cal Sol

Alta California Sol is a soccer club based in Santa Barbara, California, and a member of the United Premier Soccer League and the Women’s Premier Soccer League. The men began their first season playing in the Western Conference – UPSL Championship – SOCAL North Division. They finished the season as division champions with a record of 11-1-1 and never losing a home game. In the fall of 2019 the men’s team was promoted to the UPSL Pro-Premier Division. The women are in their inaugural season with the WPSL Pro-Premier Division.

Founded in 2018, Alta California Sol is eligible to compete in the 2020 qualifying rounds for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup through their affiliation and membership with the UPSL, the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA). Our road to the U.S. Open Cup begins now.

d'Alary Dalton

head women's coach

d’Alary Dalton is a Sports Based Youth Development Professional, certified Academic Advisor for Athletes and Soccer Coach with extensive experience in coaching and teaching; research; management; and highly knowledgeable on youth development through sports. She has successfully coached children and young adults in highly competitive as well as recreational environments. 

Arturo Dorantes

Head men's Coach

Coach Aruto Dorantes was a professional soccer player in the Mexican First Division League for Club Deportivo Toluca. He also played 2nd Division with CD Veracruz, Neza, and Gallos Blancos Queretaro. After retiring as a player, Coach Dorantes continued his career as a youth coach in Santa Barbara and with CD San Nicolas, reaching and winning the State Championship. Coach Arutro Dorantes career in soccer spans more than 30 years.

Jessie Hernandez

Assistant Women's Coach

Jessie is from Stockton, Ca and graduated from UCSB with a BS in Biopsychology. She is currently a Strength Coach and Certified Personal Trainer. She works with the UCSB club soccer team and has worked with club lacrosse and the SB Rugby Academy in the past.

Jessie has coached youth soccer in both Stockton and Santa Barbara. She has coached high school girls at Laguna Blanca and Bishop Diego and youth teams with Sol Soccer Club. She played for the prestigious WPSL Pateadores Team.

Karin Nordin

Assistant Women's Coach

Nordin played at a professional level in Sweden from 2004-11 for Sundsvalls Damfotbolls Forening, and then collegiately at Santa Barbara and San Francisco. She was a CCCAA Academic All-State squad honoree in 2015, earning Inspirational Leadership awards at both institutions. Before moving on to SFSU she played in the WPSL for Menace Soccer in Des Moines, Iowa. 

A goalkeeper by trade, Nordin was a coach for the World Cup Soccer Camps, Peninsula United and Sundsvalls Gymnasium in Sweden. Recently, Nordin joined the Vaquero coaching staff for the 2019 season. She is assisting the women’s soccer team as first assistant, while simultaneously will work with the Vaquero men’s goalies. Lastly, she also will serve as the Athletic Program Assistant for the women’s sports at SBCC.

Pablo Alaniz

Assistant Men's Coach

We are thrilled to announce that Pablo Alaniz will be joining our coaching staff. Alaniz spent the last two seasons leading Alta on the field as co-captain and central defender. In the two seasons under his leadership Alta has gone 16-4-5, won the UPSL Western Conference and been promoted to Division 1. As a central defender, Alaniz helped our team outscore our opponents 63 to 34. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Pablo for the next phase of his soccer career. He has strong ties to our soccer community and we can’t wait to see where he takes our men’s team.
